The Sir Sydney Camm Appeal

Hurricane

The Hawker Hurricane, work horse of the Battle of Britain and with more ‘kills’ to its name even than the Spitfire, was designed by Sir Sydney Camm, whose name nevertheless remains virtually unknown outside the world of aviation. This, however, is soon to change. The aim of the Sir Sydney Camm Appeal is to raise a £500,000 capital base to fund a scholarship in Sir Sydney’s name, awarded annually to help aspiring young aeronautical engineers make a start on their career.

Camm, often described as the “Brunel of aeronautical engineers”, was born in Windsor in 1893, and his remarkable achievements led him to become arguably the world’s finest ever aircraft designer. So in this Battle of Britain 70th Anniversary year the Appeal will also fund the installation of a full size replica Hurricane in Alexandra Gardens, Windsor as a permanent memorial in his home town. In this superb collection of Artique Gallery prints you will find many of Sir Sydney’s outstanding designs - the Hart, Hunter and Hurricane among them.

Memorial Appeal

Bomber

To this day there is no permanent memorial in our nation's capital to the 55,573 aircrew of RAF Bomber Command who gave their lives in the Second Wolds War, to secure our freedom and preserve our way of life. Their achievements and sacrifice have never been properly recognised by the nation or any government since 1945.

Thanks to the support of the Heritage Foundation, the Telegraph Media Group, Artique Gallery Publishing Ltd and the Royal Air Force, this injustice is being put right. A site has been offered in Central London and the necessary proceedural formalities are well underway.

Bowel Cancer UK

primulaBowel Cancer UK aims to save lives by raising awareness of bowel cancer, campaigning for best treatment and care and providing practical support and advice. Early diagnosis of bowel cancer in the UK is a problem because people either find it uncomfortable to discuss the symptoms of the disease or simply do not know what they are. Survival rates in the UK are amongst the lowest in Europe, with 15% more patients being diagnosed at a later stage of the disease compared with most other European countries.

Bowel-Cancer-UK-logosm Bowel Cancer UK’s work is to encourage people to recognise the symptoms of the disease and to act on their concerns so that they have the best chance of survival.
